Walgreens invests in Pharmacy Education

Walgreens [a large chain-pharmacy company in the United States] has donated $30,000 to the launch of a new school of pharmacy at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore [Northeastern United States).

The gift comes in support of the school’s new School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, which launches its inaugural class for a three-year doctorate of pharmacy in the fall of 2010. The school expects an initial enrollment of 60 to grow to 180 students within three years.

“This new program presents a tremendous opportunity to invest in the education of the nation’s future pharmacists, particularly on the eastern shore of Maryland and Delaware,” said Walgreens Delaware South pharmacy supervisor Don Holst.
